If you are interested in learning more about what actually goes on under water rather than just looking, a trip aboard the Undersea Explorer is the perfect way to do so. You can attend one of the onboard lectures to hear about what the marine scientists are doing, or you can actually help to gather information and log marine life that you sighted. Some of the projects include investigating dwarf minke whales, white tip reef sharks, octopii, nautilus, fluorescent corals, coral bleaching and water quality.
The 25 metre vessel can accommodate a maximum of 20 guests in 10 cabins, all of which are air-conditioned. The Undersea Explorer has a spacious saloon, equipped with DVD, TV and a microscope connected to the TV, allowing researchers to share the minutest details of marine life with guests. The saloon also has a marine reference library, allowing you to look up the weird and wonderful creatures that you see on your dives.
A large sundeck with both shaded and unshaded areas, allows you to enjoy the fresh sea air and seascape, whilst either working on your tan or relaxing in the shade whilst cruising between dive sites.
The dive deck is well designed with plenty of space for all guests to gear up. The Undersea Explorer's hydraulic dive platform makes entries and exits effortless. It doubles as a viewing platform when checking out the shark action during taggings carried out for ongoing research into reef sharks at Osprey Reef and tiger sharks at Raine Island. |
